Hi Everyone,

My name is Alan Zend, and I've been in Family Practice since 1976.  I grew up in New York City where I graduated from the City College of New York with a Bachelor of Science in 1971.  I went to medical school at Des Moines University, College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Iowa, and I did my internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. (What is an Osteopath)  For many years I was a member of the American Medical Association (until their politics changed). I am currently a member of the Snohomish County Medical Society, and the Washington State Osteopathic Medical Association.  I had been on active staff at Stevens Memorial Hospital, in Edmonds, Washington for many years.  While there I served on the Family Practice Committee, and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for quite a few years.  I had been (got tired of the dues) a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine after attending their four day international conference in 2000.

My heart was dedicated to living in the Pacific Northwest, and I've been living out here ever since I finished my internship.  I met my wonderful wife Susi in my first year out here, and I feel as though we're still on our honeymoon.  We have two beautiful daughters who are now out of the nest.  Susi and I love traveling, being involved with animals, and working around our ten acre hobby ranch.  Helping and teaching others, hobby crafts, reading, collecting, and carpentry crafts have given me many hours of enjoyment and personal growth.

I began my interest in Anti-Aging Medicine on a personal note.  I was getting older.  I was always imbued with the notion of being a Baby Boomer, but when I noticed the changes that were occurring with me, even with healthy living, the word Baby in Baby Boomer seemed to be slipping away.  We were always such a youth oriented generation, and with the passage of time that mystique seemed to be evaporating and replaced with a grimmer reality.  I knew people were becoming involved in the field of Anti-Aging, and a few years ago I started researching both the lay and medical press for more information.   Over the last few years I have been able to compile a substantial amount of information to help me combat the inevitable march of time and its effects on our bodies and minds.  I have attended a four day international conference on Anti-Aging as well.  As I've told my patients for years: "There is no physical upside to aging", and I have become dedicated to incorporating this cutting edge field of medical science into my practice. I have been doing this for a few years now, and I am always adding new resources to my campaign as more and more scientific research (mostly from Europe) becomes available.

My practice has the typical diverse nature of a general practice.  I treat every thing from ingrown toenails to migraine headaches.  We see children and patients pushing into their 90's.  Having had the additional training as an Osteopath, and my self-education in scientifically proven "alternative" forms of medicine,  have given my traditional Western  medical practice new and exciting dimensions.  The Osteopathic training has allowed me to further aid those patients with musculo-skeletal problems, and the "alternative" approaches have allowed me to avoid using the phrase "learn to live with it" many times.

I have, since 2008, been certified by the DEA to treat addicts with a phenomenal medication: Suboxone.  It can be a miracle drug which restores lost souls to functioning human beings. This is a small part of my practice but quite rewarding.

I feel blessed with having been given the ability, and the opportunity, to help others to live their lives to a more optimal fulfillment.
